Anna Hennessy

Mrs. Hennessy joined the School in 2018, continuing a career of teaching and playing the violin that began when she was still a student herself. Beginning in 2000, Mrs. Hennessy has held full private violin studios while also performing as a classical, jazz, and folk violinist. After earning her graduate degree, she served as high school and elementary orchestra director for Fairfax County Public Schools and piloted an after-school strings program for Falls Church City Schools. In 2018, Mrs. Hennessy studied under veteran St. Anne’s-Belfield School orchestra director Debbie Lyle, receiving a certification in the Bornoff Approach. Mrs. Hennessy believes that the journey to becoming a musician begins with honoring one’s own strengths, individuality, and creativity. She equips her students with structure for individual discipline as well as giving them access to rich, enjoyable musical experiences. “Orchestra is a rainbow of sound, of personalities, of relationship.
