Mathematics

Honors/AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC (REQUIRED)

Please note that all required work for AP classes is due on the first day of MOD 1. Email Terry Lippmann (tlippmann@stab.org) with questions.

Students entering Honors Calculus, AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC students who have not completed AP Calculus AB:

  • Complete the Khan Academy “Get Ready for AP Calculus” course. Go to Khan Academy to join the course. Complete all quizzes assigned.  Students may watch the video lessons before completing each assignment to help support their learning, but only the completion of the assignments is required. Students may retake each assignment as many times as they would like, and their highest score for each one will be recorded as a grade.

All Students entering AP Calculus BC

  • Complete this packet before the first day of Mod 2. There will be a video available on the Canvas page for this course at the beginning of next school year. However, feel free to do some research on your own before the year begins. 
AP Statistics (REQUIRED)

Please note that all required work for AP classes is due on the first day of MOD 1. Email Josh Ross (jross@stab.org) with questions.

Complete the Khan Academy “Get Ready for AP Statistics” course. Go to Khan Academy to join the course. Complete all 14 assignments listed.  Students may watch the video lessons before completing each assignment to help support their learning, but only the completion of the assignments is required. Students may retake each assignment as many times as they would like, and their highest score for each one will be recorded as a grade.

Recommended Work

The following are optional, and free review courses for students who want to reinforce the skills that they learned in their previous courses.

  • A student who is entering Integrated Mathematics 1 (IM1) could take this online course. Do units 1 – 6. 
  • A student who is entering Integrated Mathematics 2 (IM2) could take this online course. Do units 1 – 3.
  • A student entering Honors Integrated Mathematics (HIM2) could take this online courseDo units 1 – 6. 
  • A student who is entering Integrated Mathematics (IM3) could take this online course. Do units 1 – 4
  • A student who is entering Honors Integrated Mathematics (HIM3) could take this online courseDo units 1 – 4 & 6 – 8

Humanities

Required Reading (All Grades)

The Humanities teachers will expect your child to have read the assigned books before arriving to school in the Fall.

In addition to these common books, students should read at least two other books of their choice. 

To develop the habit of reading, students should read on a daily basis.

Renaissance Reader

Over the summer, students are welcome to start reading for the Renaissance Reading program. Although the required reading assignments below do not count towards this program, students are encouraged to choose their independent reading from the Renaissance Reader List that contains current faculty suggestions. Students who complete five books and are able to discuss them with a faculty member will be recognized as Renaissance Readers.

Summer Prep Work for Advanced Chemistry (optional but recommended)

The document below reviews several concepts that were covered in Advanced Physics that students will be using in Advanced Chemistry.

Students are strongly encouraged to review previous work or watch the linked video tutorials. Collaboration with fellow students is encouraged.

Students should not copy answers from peers or the internet.

This assignment is not graded but will provide teachers some insight about students’ current skill level.
